The Miners of Cedar Canyon Coal Mine

Local Florence artist Sandy Dale is at it again at the Florence Pioneer Museum and Research Center. Sandy is proposing a new mural in the museum's Industrial Garden (backyard). There is a blank wall that displays a large air compressor from amine. Air compressors were used to push outside air into the mine for the miners to breath.

Sandy would like to raise fund for paint and create a new mural of the miners of Fremont County in 1935 and their mine mule "Monk" over looking the compressor. The figures would be nearly life size.

The project will cost $1,200 for paints and supplies. For each $100 donor, Sandy will make sure you get a hand-colored picture of the mural and your name on a plaque near the picture.

Other amounts of donations are accepted, call the FPM during business hours at 1-784-1904 to talk about your your personal donation. If you call after hours, make sure you leave a message.

Donations can be made at The Florence Pioneer Museum, 100 E. Front St. ,Florence CO, or, mailed to The Florence Pioneer Museum, P.O. Box 131, Florence CO 81226. Put Cedar Canyon in your "memo" line so we know what it is for.
